Blessing

So it was a cloudy Monday afternoon when I went for a ride on my newly aquired long-board. I was heading to Kleins food-mart to satisfy an impending need of a beverage. As I got in the store I pondered how I could best spend my 2 dollars. You see Slurpees cost 1 dollar and 6 cents. That still left a wallopping 94 cents to spend on whatever! As I approached the till the customer in front of me seemed to be short some change. The Cashier gently addressed the issue by saying, "Ma'am you are short 80 cents." The customer looked down into her purse and explored each compartment. Coming up empty handed it was apparent that she did not have the needed 80 cents to complete the transaction. Upon seeing the dilemma I quickly interjected and offered one of my loonies to solve the issue. ( I was completely okay with that seeing as all I came for was a slurpee anyways.) The Cashier and the Customer both gladly accepted my 80 cents. After being thanked I went towards the till to buy my product. As I got my loonie out to pay, the Cashier smiled and said "No, It's on the house.. That's something I can give away for free."

This event today has brought up a few cool thoughts in my mind. I found by blessing the lady in front of me I was blessed first in my heart and then financially. I gave 80 cents and then received my slurpee (1.06) for free. But firstly and most-importantly is the feeling that I recieved before I was blessed in return. I knew that by helping that lady in the smallest way I was doing what Christ would have done. It felt good to be able to give with pure joy to somebody who needed it. I believe that the Lord blesses you when you bless others.
